Ōtara-Papatoetoe Climate Action Plan.
CLIENT | Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board and Te Kaunihera o Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland Council)
OUR ROLE | Project Management & Co-authorship
Developed alongside the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board and Auckland Council Environmental Services, the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Climate Action Plan sets out a locally-led response to climate change that reflects the unique strengths, challenges, and aspirations of the community. The plan is guided by the strategic direction of Te Tāruke-ā-Tāwhiri – Auckland’s Climate Plan and identifies practical actions that can reduce emissions, strengthen resilience, and support a thriving, climate-ready future for the area.
Recognising that climate change is experienced differently from place to place, the plan focuses on the role local action can play in creating meaningful change. It provides a framework for collaboration between local government, community organisations, mana whenua, businesses, and residents, while supporting initiatives that improve environmental outcomes, strengthen community wellbeing, and build long-term resilience.
As the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board Chair noted:
“While overarching efforts to address climate impacts at national and regional levels are underway, the power of local action cannot be underestimated. Our own efforts, shaped by the unique needs and character of our community, are vital in driving meaningful change.”
